are these in your garden BB?

What are they eating, BB? I never know what to give my ducky visitors.

Yes Eileen - they enjoy maize and corn Gee so the cheap birdseed does for them .Happy to eat the expensive stuff as well but dont need it.

The one thing they dont seem at all interested in are those pellets specifically for ducks and geese - wont touch them for some reason.Bread as sure you know not recommended as they eat so much it swells in their stomachs and can cause obstruction.

Word has obviously got out that your place is a good pantry! lol. Do they stay all day and all night Ray?

26 Feb, 2009

Last year Dawn they left each evening but towards the time of nesting only the female stayed and when the drake had flown away she secretly flew into her nest which was in an area of the garden tucked away behind a bank of nettles.!

Isn't it wonderful. When ours first nested, we didnt even know she was there. They only reared one duckling but he reached maturity and in the end both mother and father abandoned him and then one day he flew away never to be seen again :-(

How lovely to have your own ducks. I used to have a pond but never had these visit.

Dawn...he will have flown off to find his own territory am sure will be ok !
Pg.....live near lots of waterways which have colonies of ducks.A lot of gardens in the village have pairs of nesting ducks, which stay for the summer then all meet back on winter feeding grounds after nesting

They are definitely living 'high on the hog', I see ! I'm not surprised...lol. If I happen to pass anytime soon, and there is such a thing as reincarnation, I hope I come back as a bird in your neck of the woods !

Hopefully its so long away - we wont be around to feed you , I ll leave a note for the next people saying if they see a strange bird ( by that I mean one they dont recognise ! ) that tweets with a US accent be sure to look after her and give her extra rations .. shes come a long way lol.

Oh nearly forgot we ll probably be in the churchyard next door by then - please if you perch on the headstone try not to poop on it !

Please don't forget to mention my southern accent ...lol. That's my calling card, and most memorable attribute ! I'll do my best not to drop a load Bonkers, but depending on my age in birds years, might not still be in complete control of my facilities any longer, oh and depends on how well your future tenants feed me. If they feed me as well as you feed yours now, then it's not looking too good for you I'm afraid. Might possibly pay a chimney sweep (Chimney Swift), to clean up my messes...lol

So it would be tweet y'all then Flower ?

5 Mar, 2009

LOL.....,good one Bonkers ! Yep, me and my bird buddies will surely stick together and look after one another. You know the drill, I'll fluff their feathers and they'll fluff mine !
Oh..., and hubby says you are right , I'm insane in the membrane Y'all....hmm ( I believe that was the verse in a song), don't ask me where this crap comes from, I don't have a clue..!

Me neither Flower so searched it and got a group called Cypress Hill if that means anything to you ?

I ve always been partial to the Four Tops Goin loco down in Acapulco...never been loco ? plenty to Acapulco I mean.

Excellent work BB, that's it ! I just googled it, and the song started playing.... It made the hair stand up on my arms, just like it did the first time I heard it....lol. I remember having to turn my radio channel everytime it came on, just couldn't listen to the whole thing without feeling ill....lol. That particular Four Tops song didn't ring a bell so I pulled it up on You Tube and watched the video, that was alot of fun!...lol, I could listen to the that all night !
