A yellow cushion plant found across the mountains of southern Europe. Easily grown on a rockery and seeds around readily to give a nice patch of colour at this time of year.

Some of the Sedum (stonecrops) have similar yellow flowers and grow low to the grond(ideal for rockeries) Tt. But they do tend to be invasive and spread everywhere if you're not careful!
Lovely photo Bulbaholic.Nice contrasting greens and yellows!

I was going to suggest yellow sedums, potentillas are a low growing plantt for this time of year. The yellow Primula auriculas could complement aubretia. For something different how about Dryas x suendermannii - a mat forming shrub with creamy yellow flowers followed by fluffy clematis like seed heads

Walking in the garden I have just noticed another plant that is very much like the Drabas. This is Vitaliana primuloides which forms a silvery green mat and has low yellow flowers later in the spring. More likely to be available from specialist nurseries than garden centres but easy to grow.

I tried to couple of times to see a picture of this on internet.
Maybe you could please photograph your Vitaliana when you get a chance, please ?

Hello Terratoonie, I have just added a couple of pictures of Vitaliana primuliflora to my album. Also see Degenia velebitica alongside. Both were photographed within the last hour!

Lovely rocks and colourful mountain plants. :o)
How long does this one flower ?
Is there a similar-looking yellow plant you can recommend for flowering a bit later in the spring, please. At the same time aubrieta is in flower ?
