what sort of stones were you picking up? Do you polish them and make jewellery with them

Lindak, we were just picking simple stones, any colour, to decorate the garden ....

When I go on holiday I usually bring home one small stone from the beach to put in the garden as a memento

I thought it was just me, I have stones from Bridlington to Antigua around my pond and sadly I know which ones came from where. I realy must get out more!

So far, I haven't thought of bringing the stones from the beaches when I go on a holiday. That's a good idea. Next time, I will do that..... Thanks for the idea ...

I've got a few fossils that I've found whilst walking along too. The Isle of Wight is a good place to find fossils near the cliffs where the cliff goes from a sludgey grey blue to a brown colour. The sea washes them out.

Lindak, will you be posting the photos of those fossils you found ? You decorate the garden with those too ?
