Going to a new home

My mirror carp having just been removed from my pond. He was laid on the grass to allow me to remove him from the net. Having been out of the water for less than a minute I put him into a tank of pond water and took him about one and a half miles to his new home. The pond he is now in is over four times the size of mine and about three times as deep. The people who I have given him/her to are middle aged and are very much into nature/wildlife and I am positive that they will give him a very good home. When I put him into his new pond he swam off immediately and disappeared. Shortly afterwards, he reappeared and the last I saw of him he was cruising around with the goldfish, seemingly quite happy in his new home.

Yes Tina this is a mirror carp. My pond is only small (about ten feet long by seven feet wide at it's widest point and only about two feet deep). He was put into it by a neighbour many years ago as a baby of no more than about four inches long. He is now of a size (about 21 to 22 inches long and very plump). I believe it unfair to keep him in such restricted conditions and have been looking for a home for him which is larger, not open to fishermen and is owned by people I believe will care for him well.

Thanks Irish, I was beginning to think that I wouldn't find a home for him which would have meant him staying with me as I didn't like the idea of him going to a fishing lake.

Thanks to bothe Bonkers and Gee for your comments. I think your right Gee, he did look a bit like he was strutting his stuff.

Yes Jacque. Much as I hate to see him go, it is for the best. He now has a much bigger and deeper pond to live in. I believe that if you keep animals, they must come first, even when you could put your own feelings on top.
