That's looking lovely! Mine is very healthy and sprouting shoots in all directions, but not a flower in sight! I'll just admire yours instead. :-)

Thank you all for your very nice comments. Last year it had lots of growth but far fewer flowers.
They are a really common Clematis Jacque. They are evergreen as well and can be really rampant so unless you've got lots of space like you, cutting back and pinching out the growing points is the order of the day. Still I like it.

Mine had no flowers at all last year.
But loads of buds this year, and the first few just starting to open :o)

It seems that many plants take a year off every now and again.

Yes, most odd that my neighbour's Armandii, which she bought several years after I planted mine, also took a year's rest.

Happens in all the best neighbourhoods TT. Can't imagine why it did round here.

Yours is beautiful............our lovely winter got mine. We unfortunately have a north facing garden and I dont think it was sheltered enough........

Hi Milky sorry on your blog Toto - if you can locate a book by Alan Titchmarsh entitled Supergardener very understated from a Yorkshire man lol
He gives quite a list for north facing gardens and the position isnt quite as bad as assumed ..

Actually Bonkers I noticed it myself, just in time to head you off at the pass. I don't know which of the GOY members is a teacher, but if he/she can educate me beyond playschool level, he/she will be doing very well.
Please don't apologies I love the idea that all sorts of discussion is generated on this, or any other photo/blog. After all it is not just Milky (on this occassion) that get's the benefit of your comment.
Thanks Bonkers.

Sorry to hear about your armandii Milky. Mine is also north facing but I imagine that the place in which miy Clematis is planted may be a little more sheltered.
Thanks for your comment on mine.

I confess, Toto - it's me BB is talking about - I was a Headteacher in my previous life and he takes EVERY opportunity of reminding me! LOL.
I forgive him because he's lovely - don't I, BB?

Thanks for confessing Spritz. Please don't look too closely at my efforts. I've got all the trouble I can handle.
