So many lovely flowers! Looking around the gardens some bushes seem to have a lot more than others

Good ole Forsythia..........makes it look sunny even when it isn.t...used to have this years ago, but didn't like the pruning after flowering! lol

Don't bother pruning mine Janey - which might explaine why it has turned into a rather mishappen.....cough....sorry, I meant 'characterful', big yellow wild n woolly thing in the front garden! Oh, but it's lovely at this time of year :-)

Does it grow in Arizona?

6 Apr, 2010

Sure does. I have a snap or two of mine. It's amazing how full of blossoms they get even though they are still small sized.

Yes, I tried to grow one as a bonsai once - it was a mixed success - it did flower every year even tho I kept it only about 6inches tall! I eventually got bored with it and planted it out in the garden.....where it has now become a full-sized one lol

Bonsai is amazing to me. Sort of like becoming mother nature determining the size of the plant and keeping it that size.

yes, the 'professional' ones are really beautiful arn't they...esp the maples and pines....the hard bit I found was keeping them sufficiently watered because of course they are in small pots....how bad it would be to have one of those very ancient and valuable bonsais and then forget to water it for a day or two?! So easy to do, but deadly I'm afraid :-(
