Beautiful close-up. I will always remember walking in the mexican jungle on the yucatan and seeing all this bright pink stuff all over in the big trees. The memory gives me a special love for these.

Thanks All...Jacque, you can grow them here. I have mine in a pot and it just gets moved into the greenhouse over winter..As long as you keep them frost free they are fine. This shuldnt be flowering now, but when it was put away it was a bit near the heat for my Frangipani, so it hasnt stopped flowering. Dotty I cheated and bought this as a small plant 2 years ago......

Thanks TT, I do love them, they remind me of our holidays on the Greek Islands, where they seem to grow everywhere. I am hoping to visit Muddywellies, when we go down to Devon Fishing, because I only found out a short while ago that we will be less than a mile from him and he has a huge greenhouse full of them...........

Milky:
Beautiful flower shot!
We have bougainvillea every here in California...They are all in full bloom in huge mounds along the freeways in San Diego now. They bloom most of the year in almost every color.
Can Bougainvillea spectabilis - Purple Bougainvillea be grown outside there where you live? I know it's the hardiest of the species.

Andy, I think it would hyave to be pot grown, so that it could be moved to a frost free position during the winter months.....I dont think it would survive our winter outside.........but they are beautiful......

Beautiful! Wouldn't have thought you could grow it in northern climates...but I guess you do need a greenhouse...it blooms year round more or less here...it is one of my favorite plants, when I was much younger and thought I might get married I wanted a bouquet of bougainvillea...LOL
