Clematis amandii

Lovely to see this so well-established !
How many years has this been in place ?
This week I put close-ups on my photos of my Clematis armandii, covering my pergola.
Planted about five years ago.
Are you saying yours flowers most of the summer ?
So far, mine seems to blossom only in springtime.

It's about 9 nine years old 'cause the first year I spent clearing out all the debris which included 800 linear feet of ivy, 8 ft brambles everywhere and the sales details described it as 'a mature garden'! LOL.

This plant flowers until just before Christmas usually and then started again this year around three weeks ago. I have many climbers that flower several times a year which in effect gives a terrific long season.

But it's not just the climbers that last all summer long. I noticed when I started gardening that many west country gardens have fabulous spring and woodland colour which is largely gone by the end of May. With that in mind I thought to develop a niche by creating a garden that really came in to its own during and after May.

The problem with that however is that I don't have comparable spring colour (bulbs, rhododendrons & camellias) to enter the local gardening shows which is a shame.

Could you please mention a couple of your climbers which flower for a long season, please. Any of them evergreen ?
My garden used to look fantastic in spring and then nothing much from about June - October, so I worked hard to find plants which were good in seasons other than springtime, such as climbers on my photos ~ Clematis cirrhosa Wisley Cream, and Garrya elliptica, James Roof.

I'll do better than that and post a few pages on my site with pictures and stuff this w/e if possible - I'll let you know when they're done Terratoonie.
