I fill that basket with mesclun salad mix, carrots, parsley, sunflower seeds and ground corn... he just hops right in and munches each offering in succession...then decides which he wants and cleans it up...at present the choix du jour is sunflower seeds!

lol.....That is just wonderful. They are choosy given a selection. :-)

What a clever idea Lori, and it made a fantastic shot too !

Thanks very much, everyone! Just thinking as I was looking at the fuzziness of the shot that I could really use a new camera! Pictures just aren't as sharp as I remember taking before...or maybe it's my eyes! lol.

That's gr8, Lori - and perfect timing! Hope he isn't sitting there trying to hatch some Easter eggs! Actually, it is now Easter Sunday here (just), so "Happy Easter" to you and yours! :-)

Thank you David!! Happy Easter to you and your family! Now that our sons are grown and gone..(old enough to have little ones of their own) Terry and I muse about Easters past and all those great times we've enjoyed over the years... Chocolate bunnies and easter eggs...what an excuse to fall off the "no sugar" wagon...lol. Choc is good for you too!
I never expected these wild rabbits to get right into it...but couldn't resist posting a pic of the larger one enjoying himself...glad you liked it.

Hi Lori!

The kids loved this pic, too, when I showed them. Well, we've had the Easter Egg et al hunt in the garden today, dinner out there too (was really quite warm and very sunny). What better place to hunt for chocolate eggs than in our "chocolate" garden? Will look at the pics later, and post some.
Now, am off to bed with a bar of chocolate and a glass of wine. :-)

Great idea Lori..we do try to give our wildlife treats dont we ?

12 Apr, 2009

It gives me a warm fuzzy feeling to be helping these creatures thro nature's famine time... the winter was cold and it doesn't seem to want to leave us...every night of the last seven days have been below the zero mark and the days just above it...with a very sharp cold wind blowing...the windchill factor brings the temps down enough that anywhere that is not sheltered from it is uncomfortably cold... no picnics for us today...and our easter egg hunt was indoors, but the bunnies didn't have a warmer option so we made sure that the buffet was stocked before we drove off to see our sons in Ottawa. I know that they say we shouldn't interfere with nature's ways...but I'm a marshmallow...I just can't help myself...I must help the rabbits, birds and squirrels... Thanks BB/Jane for giving me a rationale..they are treats!! not support just treats!!

He looks huge.

This is the larger of the two,Hywel. He just looks big sitting in that basket, would say that he/she is definitely full grown though.

HAhaahahaha.....! That's so funny Lori ! Hope you didn't break down and eat any of those very small, chocolate eggs....lol.

17 Apr, 2009

Oh My! They aren't chocolate, Flcrazy?????!

17 Apr, 2009

good thing I didn't invite the neighbourhood kids in for an egg hunt, aye?

17 Apr, 2009

And you said "Yeughhhhh!" to Xmas "reindeer droppings"? There may just be an Easter marketing opportunity here, for you! :-)

23 Apr, 2009

hmmm...now that you mention it David...but somehow bunny turds doesn't sound appetizing either.!

That's very cute!

Thanks D1! I made a brush pile out of tree prunings and combined it with the compost/leaf heap from last fall...it's behind my garden shed ..and the rabbits have taken full advantage of it's protection..It's a refuge for them. Saw the smaller rabbit breakfasting on my Echinops, which is just emerging...I guess the nice new shoots are more enticing than my bunny buffet!
