Around 10pm, I couldn't get it steady enough to really show the moon shape, but I liked the evening sky anyway

Thanks.
I was as still as I could be resting it on the car door. I need a tripod for the detail. I want to catch northern lights, and now I know how to use the camera for night, if I can be still enough. :-)

One day PP. We had a very low year this winter. I only saw a glimpse once! The least ever for me. Coming year will be more perhaps.

The colours on the horizon are just beautiful. And that's a great shot of the moon even without a tripod. I agree Tasteyg, it's hard taking night photos, I took some of a lunar eclipse we had a couple of years back and it was like a comet on some pictures because of the light trails! I got a couple of decent ones but then invested in a cheap tripod from eBay.

I need a tripod. We get some rare color since our sun is so strange, being at such an odd angle to it in the arctic with more atmosphere to penetrate. We get these long wonderful twilights this time of year. The sky is this color for almost three hours, only a few hours of darkness and then this again for three more.

The evening sky is lovely GT :) I find it very difficult to take night shots without the tripod.
