Rescued plant!

I rescued this plant from my eldest daughter. Well, not so much rescued as had it thrust into my hands with the words 'take it'! She is not into plants at all. It was so dry it floated. After a night soaking and after I removed all the dead leaves/flowers it began to look happier. I think it is a begonia of some kind. If anyone knows more (or otherwise) please let me know.
