Ptarmigan Are Out

The first time Ive seen this bird, looks very similar to our Partridge!

What a lovely plump little bird. I guess they need to be plump to get through the winter months?

I think they do plump up for winter, and they change to all white feathers. The male is very showy like a pheasant. Shes all plumped up crouching, you could see her thinking, "I'm invisible, no one can see me". :-)

~I think they have them in Scotland on the mountains.

They are pretty wide spread. Really nice things, I grew up with pheasant everywhere, so these make me feel at home. :-)
