Gee, thanks. Maybe the name comes form how they slide into the water...not sure exactly. They're also called 'red-earred' turtles for the red markings on their ears.

They remind me alot of our 'painted' turtles.

Little tiny red-eared turtles used to be sold a lot over here but they grew enormous and people used to dump them in rivers, lakes, etc., poor things. Don't hear so much of them now.

Great photo. Why are they called 'sliders' TG? They are a good size.
