Great Blue Heron with it's wings uplifted, as it prepares to lift off.
We have a large colony of great blue herons, - infact there's a nesting area/rookery/heronry about 5 minutes from our home. Right now they are nest building, so we go there to watch them gathering branches and carrying them to their nests. (trying to get a good photo of this) But the nests are high up in the trees on the bluff.

Oh yes, they are huge. It's amazing how they navigate around the tree branches on the bluff, to get to their nests. Very interesting to watch them.

thanks again Janey, Donnah and Pansypotter. They can stand so perfectly still, when hunting, then suddenly they strike.
