Great Blue Heron gathering Nest Twigs

gathering twigs for its nest. This is about 5 minutes from our place. The herons are far up on the bluff. This was captured with a telephoto lens.

hi again Tina. Yes, they are huge :) And what a row they make, up in the nesting area, if a bald eagle flies anywhere near their nests! Not that I blame them. The bald eagles have a 6 foot wingspan, and they are also nesting in the same area, on the bluff, so that they can capture the baby herons if they get a chance (from their nests). But the parent herons guard the nests pretty closely.

A great shot...I love their coloring...and they are quite large..we have them here, as well..in fact, we have most of the birds you have pictured so far...amazing!

What a large bird,Wow,makes our native Heron look quiet small lol....
