thanks again Tina. Yes, he is very pretty. Very old too we think, altho being a stray before, we aren't exactly sure "how old". If we could carry him around all day, he'd love that.

I think he must have belonged to an elderly person, (even more elderly than "us", LOL) possibly confined to a wheelchair or so, who held him a lot.
My theory is that when the elderly owner either became too ill or died, the rest of the family didn't want the cat, and let him out or dumped him off in this area, hoping someone would take him in. He needed dental work when we found him, which we had done, which seems to be another reason why other people might not have wanted to bother with the poor thing. Anyway, he came to the right home :) I think there must be a sign here, invisible to us, that tells all the strays and unwanteds, to come here :)

thankyou Janey, Skippy, Pansypotter, Sanbaz, Donnah and Tasteya. My DH is especially besotted with him :) Of course, I love him a lot too. He's quite demanding of our affection. One vet told us that this is unusual for this breed of cat.
He came into our lives very shortly after we'd lost one of our cats, - (killed on the road behind our house). We were so upset, it happened just after I'd lost my Dad and our son in law, and we thought "what NEXT??"
Initially we thought that this cat belonged to new neighbours, so we fed him (which he gobbled down and promptly threw up, so hungry, poor thing) - then we put him back out, not wanting to harbour someone else's pet.
As well as this, we were having visitors, -- so after the friends returned home, we saw the cat again, wandering up the hill infront of our house, so we caught him soon after that, and asked the neighbours, checked with the local vets to see if anyone had lost him, - nothing, - so we kept him. He has no front claws (removed before we found him), so he's an indoor cat as he has no defense.
