you can see the jay's tongue in this one. we gathered a lot of acorns for the stellar's jays and squirrels. captured from open front window with telephoto lens

thankyou all, Skippy, Pansypotter and Janey. Sorry to say, Janey, I don't recall the jays over there very well. I mainly recall the robins, & blue tits etc that fed on my grandma's suet hanging on an arch in her back garden. I was only 12 when we left England, so hadn't really travelled very far afield on my own at that stage. These fellas and gals are very pretty and quite entertaining to watch - greedy too, as you can see here :) They aren't around much right now, as they become shy at nesting time, oddly enough, - normally they are very cheeky.
