Another one taken from a cutting - so glad I did, as the parent plant died in the frost.

Carnations are taller, double, grow on single, unbranched stalks and stand up straight. They tend to be florist-bought rather than grown in the garden!
This is a 'Pink', they grow in clumps, are smaller and may have several flowers on each stalk - either single or double flowers. They often have a scent, too!

I can't name it, though.

Isn,t that the way it goes ... I took loads of cuttings and none of mine died in the frost , I think they have a lovely old fashioned scent of cloves .......

The ones that died were old and woody, so it wasn't really a problem, especially as I had cuttings!

I know Dianthus is the 'proper' name Spritz but I see some plants called carnations and others called pinks. Is there a difference?
