I think you're right Maureen, the cheaper compost is not the same is it. How's the veg plot? I think you should do a blog of successful composting as it works so well for you :)

Ha ...now how can you do a blog on throwing it on top of the pile for a year Dawn........I just leave it to do its own thing, like everyone else I have tried using cheaper compost, but I do find the success rate is not as good..........

You make composting sound so easy ... I've tried in the past and ended up with slime, lol, probably too many grass cuttings - so how long does it take to turn into compost?

If you have too much grass cuttings Dawn, try adding lots of shredding newspaper to absorb some of the moisture.....stop it getting too wet.....all the kitchen waste...old egg cartons, till receipts everything ....you have to0 get a good mix............

Hi Maureen, thanks for this - but how many composters do you have? What type are they (from the council)? Sorry for all the questions but really want to do this but don't know the basics. My Dad just had a 'muck heap' as he kept animals so well rotted manure was always available but I dont have animals, lol.
