Looks very much like a type of Euphorbia Elke sure Spritz will know and probably have a variety hidden somewhere in her garden ..I ll have a wild guess at E.polychroma ...

I found so many varieties, colours, heights and shapes of Euphorbia. I'll have to research this one. This is the closest:

The colors in this euphorbia are spectacular. Those quick springs we get in the north bloom before the fall color can go, to great effect!
