I have a feeling that this is a youngster (probably one of Freaky's offspring) who is coming to the feeder regularly. Does anyone know when male blackbirds go black? Or is this definitely a young female?

I have had baby Blackbirds over the years........ and found the feathers of the young males start to go black quite quickly, starting with the tail feathers.... and also the males start to sing i have had them sit on my fence under a shrub and get there voice they start to twitter.......you can tell there going to be male.............

Nice photo Gee - birds usually moult early spring and chest feathers change first so if you see a male with black chest but brown wings its about a year old. Takes 2 years to go fully black. So at this stage no way of knowing if male or female.
