Sorry to hear that Arlene - I'm looking forward to this one growing as I've never had one before. It's outdoors and seems to be doing so well in it's spot - it's only had this one bloom so far though. Early days.

Yes Delonix this is in the ground - it's under a young eucalypt tree and seems to be loving it there. Mine's still so young - so this has been the only bloom so far. Will be watching for your photos - such a beautiful thing when it's in flower.

I was going to put mine in the ground, however, it is difficult to find a good spot in semi-shade. In nature Medinilla grows as an epiphyte on large trees in the tropical rain forest.
I keep mine outside in semi-shade...I brought my plant indoors only once and it almost died. I know they do grow as an indoor plant in colder states, although I think it's difficult.
My plant shoud start budding in July or so and will bloom in late August through the beginning of December. Last year was the first time in a long time it did not bloom.
