Ah, good luck with them Janey. One thing I've noticed is that mine only had 3 petals per flower......thought that must be normal but I've looked at other pictures now and they all had more than 3......odd that.... BTW the orange is Azalea 'Glowing Embers'. The Mec is in a pot and I put it next to the Azalea - I love clear bright oranges and blues together :-)

I've tried with these & failed miserably.
The sod about it is that I had a yellow one self seed & I don't really like the yellow!!

Hi Meanie - the yellow you ahve is probably Meconopsis cambrica (Welsh poppy) which is something quite different. M. betonicifolia require rich soil (mine's in a pot) and lots of rain water (not tap) and also shade. They are very hardy and seen to do best after a hard winter - they do well in Scotland I hear. Think mine flowered well this year coz we had a hard winter. Hope this helps.
