Viburnum Lanarth

Viburnum Lanarth (Viburnam 'Lanarth')

Viburnam 'Lenarth' in late spring looking towards the pergola. On the left is an evergreen pittosprum hedge through which the beautiful blue clematis 'Perle d'Azur' scrambles later in the summer.

Very pretty. Looks rather like a dogwood. Does this plant do well in shade - or am I thinking of Hydrangia somthing-or-other?

Very nice shrub. I love the way the flowers seem to go round in a spiral

Sid, it does look like a dogwood, but unlike a dogwood it will flower several times between breaks. It's in a comparatively dark area of the garden and I expect it could go in a borderline situation with the resulting effect on flower numbers as light recedes. Hydrangeas I suspect would flower better when compared with a dogwood in darker places. Dogwoods do enjoy a sunny location.
Chris. As I write this (19/03) the leaves are just out and the flower buds are fattening before they burst - about 10 (sunny) days if all goes well.
The plicatum bit in the name means the leaves are folded and look like crinkle-cut crisps. I have more V. plicatums in the garden but I think 'Lenarth' is the best of these.
