No idea - I 'liberated' it from a former garden where it wasn't thriving!

I'm tending to think it's Siberian Iris, as suggested by Greenthumb I believe. They range from dark purple to white.

Nice shot!! Could also be Iris versicolour (Blue Flag), which I have in the garden, having gotten them from my aunt's iris patch.

If it helps, the flowers are smaller than the 'regular' iris, look much more delicate.

My Blue Flag grow to around 24" tall, leaves are slender, maybe1/2" wide, flowers 2 1/2 ". The tall bearded iris are over 3' high , wide leaves & large flowers.

Just went out the front and measured the flowers - exactly 2 1/2"! You could be right about Blue Flag!
