Beginning of winter in northern Oz: Red Powder Puff starts to bloom - Calliandra Haematocephala

There are two of these shrubs near the front gate and they have both just started flowering. Soon they will be covered in these fantastic red powder puffs.

Tasteyg I think this is from the Mimosaceae family - the best known members being the acacias and wattles of course.
