Do you know Clarice, if I hadn't already got a houseful of cats, I would have done ....

Now then you lot - is there some kind of conspiracy? Aw shucks, I felt bad enough at leaving it behind and now I'm feeling even worse - it's not fair, why are are there so MANY needing homes ??? ....

I know Irish, she/he would've made a lovely pet but as much as I would love, there is simply no way I can take home every single stray I come across. I get so angry each year.... as we will shortly be seeing so many dogs on the roads and streets that have been dumped from cars by holidayers .....

Awwww... and a tabby too! I'd take him/her in a minute! (now don't get any ideas!) my birds would have nervous tics in no time! oh dear...how can people be so hard hearted? good thing there are kind picnickers with ham and mozzarella to share!

Such a pretty little cat, that's one thing I don't envy ( I do envy your homes, the weather etc :-) ) all the stray animals, are there animal societies in Italy?

Well Bornagain, this is a very very sore and painful point - I'd like to happily say yes, but the majority of the kennels are not nice places and your heart simply bleeds in some of them, they are overflowing with abandoned cats and dogs found on motorways (those that don't get killed that is) and car parks .... you just want to bundle them up and take them all home -

There are numerous ads on the telly and posters on the streets imploring people (especially at the beginning of the summer holiday season) not to take on animals if they're not prepared to look after them and above all, not to dump them when they become a "burden" ...... grrr
