There is apparently another olive tree in a little town called Canneto, that is supposed to be 1,500 years old (some even boast 2,000!!). With a height of 15 metres and a 7 metre diameter trunk, its branches spread out across a whopping 30 metres, producing 1,200 kg of olives every year .....

Wonderful the ancient trees still produce so much fruit...
... and that must add up to quite a lot of kg over the centuries... :o)

wonder what the world would be like if the ancients had never had the olive and the grape?

Ah yes..." In vino ~ veritas!" (and to avoid a very bad translation) in olives- health! I have a Russian Olive and the blossoms are sweet smelling...Are the true olive blossoms aromatic?
