This looks like the Tussock Moth caterpiller that we have over here. It causes enormous damage to Douglas Fir trees and Spruce trees. Around Kamloops it has reached epidemic proportions.

Yes it is a bit punk like Wagger.
It could well be related or even the same one with a different name Gilli. It's sientific name is Orgyia antiqua which would be the same anywhere. This one is also a pest of trees.

They are from the same family then Toto....the scientific name for the Tussock moth is Orgyia pseudotsugata. Interesting that they are so similar yet so far away,.
