Beautiful place you have Elke!

Thanks - we're getting there! Still some shingling and painting of the windows and surrounds. Apart from the sunroom extension, moving windows and new cedar shingles on the exterior, I think Patrick moved every single wall on the ground floor - the planning was so poor. Now it's a delight indoors and out.

What an amazing transformation Elke ! The before and after photos are fantastic. So glad you took a before photo, this turned out better than any of the make-over programs I watch on television.

Thanks for all your kind comments! Yes, Flcrazy, what a difference - thanks to Patrick's special talents as an architectural designer, we now have a house in which the interior spaces work - the original layout was very poor - no flow, views onto blank walls, the dining room faced the sunrise and the breakfast room faced the sunset! Now it's the other way around. And from the front door you can see straight through to a view across the bay at the back. The sunroom addition to the front really balances the volume of the building too. And with the greying cedar shingles and white paint instead of the brown siding, it's starting to look more Nova Scotian!

Wow, you are so lucky to have someone so talanted ! He really was in his element then wasn't he Elke ! What is he going to do, now that he has finished.....? I have a feeling that there will always be some new structure springing up at your place...lol. Luckily, you certainly have the space for him to indulge in his passion to build and create. You lucky woman, you....;-)

Oh, he's not finished yet, Flcrazy - there's still an end wall to shingle, a window to move, 3 more to install on the mezzanine in the master bedroom, right now he's building a walk-in closet in there, the basement requires partitions, and in between all that he is taking out a wall of the barn and installing windows that someone gave him so he has more light in his workshop. He's also in charge of renovating the village hall (former one-room schoolhouse), building a marine park for small leisure craft... it will never end! But he's happy. We bought this place with him mostly in mind!! For me, the view suffices.
