Thanks all....the scent is lovely too and quite heady as near one of our honeysuckles.

I dont know much about roses BB - is this one a climber because if it smells beautiful I would like one.

Its a vigorous shrub rose Dawn that grows to about 6 ' tall - ours very old and got out of shape over the years has an old fashioned wild rose scent esp in evenings not the strongest scent but nice .

Thanks Ray/Jane. I ought to get a rambling rose as I love the scent. I have a couple of honeysuckle but they are slow to grow - they are in flower at the mo though - any idea what they require to get them going well.

Dawn...should be ok with just regular tomato feed...Titchmarsh recommends that for all flowering shrubs.
