Brmmmm! Brmmmmm!

Brmmmm! Brmmmmm!

Off on honeymoon 1952. Reached Grantham but no rooms available so ended up in small hotel just outside. Next day arrived at Ambleside. Non stop rain. Went home to our new flat on Wednesday. My mother had kept my bouquet in tip top condition. Beautiful Tiger lilies, tobacco coloured roses, carnations and lots more all tucked in among the ferns.

Ha ha!
57th Anniversary this August.

Please note the white helmet! It was worn similar to a white wedding dress.
Those were the days!

Many thanks. Our 58th Anniversary in August! Would love to revisit Ambleside and find our lodgings but forgot the address and can't find original letter confirming our booking. which I kept for many years. Tsk tsk, as they used to say in books.

What happened to the bike?

11 Jun, 2010

The bike - a Triumph Tiger 100 - on which we had many wonderful excursions both in UK and twice 'sur le Continent' in the early 1950s, - was sold in 1956 when I was expecting our first child.. Roy embarked on a new career soon after wards and it has been cars ever since. (His and hers too). We still get a thrill from hearing the deep purr of a big powerful engine. Some of the modern bikes are so beautiful.
If you are growing veg keep on the watch for pests such as the dreaded cabbage white butterfly, carrot fly and all and all................
Why do we do it? It is a constant battle.
Wish you well.
