Cactus species unknown - Maybe a Saguaro Cactus?

This Cactus had no tag...it may possibly be a young Saguaro Cactus. Photo taken in Balboa Park, San Diego, CA on June 22, 2009.

Lori:

It is unlikely...most cacti in the ground grow twisted and contorted like this...it is very common.

Lori:

Yes, it is a great looking specimen!

I'm not sure when this cactus was planted...I think this
area is fairly new. This cactus is pretty old if it's a Saguaro. However, it has many more years to grow.

Might be a Trichocereus tersheckii. Much more amendable to gardens.

I think it may be a Saguaro cactus. It's still very young, though. I do have some really nice photos of large Saguaro cacti out at the Salton Sea.

This area is the dry garden. The ground here stays so dry and hard all year, you wouldn't believe it. I think it's because of its location ( on a south-east slope).
