This can grow to 3 metres tall, with a spread of up to 2 metres. But mine is in a large pot, so will grow slower and be kept to a height of about 1.5 metres (5ft). Grows best in full sun, attracts many beneficial insects. What I like best are the dark purple/brown berries which follow the blossom. :-)

Thanks, Louise and Usernut. Yes, in the ground the black-leaved varieties are just as fast-growing as the native green elderberry. My "Black Lace" has gained almost 8 inches in height since I transplanted it into a large box container in late April!
