Just lovely.

Just look at this photograph - roses are so sensual. You just want to gently run your fingers over the petals before bringing your face up close and deeply breathing in its perfume. Roses do it for me and you've captured it perfectly.

Hi Amblealice, you're welcome (embarrassed !). I'm looking forward to next season with my fingers' crossed, never having planted so many plants in one go before. My roses are :- Blairii no.2, Comte de Chambord, De Rescht, Fantin Latour, Felicite Parmentier, Gloire de Dijon, Mme Alfred Carriere, Mme Plantier, Queen of Denmark, Reine des Violettes, Roseraie de l'Hay, Sombreuil, Souvenir du Dr Jamain, Tuscany Superb and two from David Austin - Geoff Hamilton and Sweet Juliet.
Have you ever visited David Austin ? What a glorious garden he has there. You could go in June and not want to come out 'til July ! I have just treated myself to Photoshop for Xmas, so if I can get my (Luddite) head around it, photos will be posted.

An impressive collection there. No I haven't been to David Austins, unfortunately, but I have met one of their people who gave a rose pruning master class to volunteers at The Alnwick Garden a few years ago. I'm a volunteer gardener there. The Garden has about 3,000 David Austin roses planted there. Have you ever been?

I'm ashamed to say I haven't - yet. I have seen it on tv and in the press and I have friends who've been twice. They did say I should go with them next time (to play gooseberry !), ((where does that saying come from ?)) so I will take them up on the offer.

I once had a workmate (in London) from Heddon-on-the-wall who used to lament the lack of 'beef stotties' down south. Maybe I'll search one out in his memory, whatever it may be !

Stotties are a round flat bread which a slightly chewy texture and a lovely flavour. They are slit open to accommodate beef; ham and pease pudding, burgers, sausage and bacon....anything you want. Many bakers ourside Tyneside have attempted to make them and have failed miserably!!!
You realise I am feeling very hungry now......just fancy a stottie......lol
