This is the view that greets you as you head for my door. Excuse this years crop of dandelions between the paving. They seem to look far worse in the photo than they do in real life!

Yes, it is a very big rock, dug up out of another part of the garden about ten years ago. It's solid granite, and there is about eighteen inches of it below ground. It took four of us to move it. It has such an interesting face, especially when it's wet, I decided to put it where it could be seen. I can see it from my sitting room window.

It must be fascinating to have a garden where you find such wonderful rocks in the ground. What a good idea to put it where you can see it from indoors. Rather like an iceberg with so much below the surface....Lol.

In the fifteen years I've lived here, I think most of the rocks have been removed, but there have been some real beauties, both in size and shape. Some of the smaller ones with nice markings or faces, I've used as a border for the fernery, There is still one, the corner of it is right in the corner of the veg. garden, about nine inches down. The rest of it is under the path and heading across under the patio. I assume it's lying flat, but I dread to think how big it is, or how far down it goes!
