Such a strange shrub this one with these maroon coloured bracts opening to reveal creamy white flowers.

Is this the same plant that Jacque has just posted? Called Pheasants Eye? I've been calling it 'shrimp plant' when I saw it at the Open Gardens recently.

The ones around here seem a much lighter pink. I think it will have to be added to my wish list :)

Leycesteria formosa....also known as Himalayan honeysuckle, plus the names already mentioned in previous comments. I think they're fascinating once flowering starts....they change in appearance almost daily.

I've just googled and found out about this plant because I really like it. I should have waited for your comment, Phil, and saved myself the trouble :)

It looks lovely and green and healthy Janey. A few of my customers' have them but they are really struggling in our hot, dry, windy conditions this year!

Thanks all....I'm not too keen on it myself, but it always comes back after a good pruning in the Autumn...:o)
