clematis viticella Elvan

It has a mass of flowers,Spritz.

I like the viticella group - they are good 'doe-ers', aren't they!

Yes, they are Spritz. I think Elvan is particularly vigorous.

I shall keep an eye open for it, then! It's the right colour for my back garden. :-) I seem to have lost two of the C. f. sieboldii that were there. :-(

Were they affected by winds or the hard winter just gone ?

Frost, I think - the back garden is sheltered, isn't it. They just didn't re-appear.

They were babies from T&M and I grew them on, but they've always been fragile and are certainly not vigorous. I did know that they weren't particularly hardy.

I didn't know that last part until a couple of weeks ago.
I'd love one but i must admit i'm thinking hard about it first !

Moral - don't buy from T&M! I really have had so many bad experiences with them. No more!

I've already got a list - I have to see if they have a 'Handel' (in flower to avoid another mistake!) and I'd like a Hydrangea, too.

I have had my first vouchers! YAY!!! Included is one for a free Clematis - I know it'll be a baby one, but you never know, do you?

What an unusual clematis, looks rather special.

I've got this in a few places as I like it so much - the flowers hang down from above your head.

But where did you get them from, Wagger? We looked in the GC...no luck. :-(

From seed I purchased at a clematis stand at Hampton Court several years ago. There was a marquee for national collections and specific growers. I'll try a few cuttings for you, Spritz.
