Is this the cosmos that also smells like chocolate ? Well..., it's too late , I'm already craving that hersey chococlate bar I have stashed in my bedroom for an emergency. Hoped I could pop in and back out of your posts before the cravings started, darn it ...lol

Oops, Fl, sorry about that! But, if it's any consolation, you reminded me that there was a half bar left in my 'fridge too, so now it's gone, lol! I don't like the smell of hersheys, but can't resist them straight from the 'fridge, of course!

Cosmos atrosanguineus/um was the original "chocolate" cosmos, even, perhaps, the first "chocolate" flower, and a newer variety, named "Choca Mocha" (with some variations in spelling) seems to have taken over. I suspect a great deal of marketing forces at work behind the scenes here, given the popularity of dark purple and brown flowers in recent years.

As for the chocolate scent, it just doesn't exist, for me, nor for others I have spoken with, which relieves me a bit, as my sense of smell is not gr8. But, just had to have this, nevertheless. There are, currently, more than 20 flowers on 2 plants, nodding in the breeze, right now in the garden. We love it! :-)

I remember finding a burgandy colored flower at a nursery many years ago and they kept bragging how it smelled just like chocolate,(don't remember the name) and I was embarrassed to admit I couldn't smell it either...lol. So glad to hear I'm not the only one...;-) BTW my Hersey with almonds was delightful ! So much so, I think I'll sneek and have another one.....lol

Hmm, chocolate with almonds, I have no problems with the smell of this one, lol! I also always home in on Hershey "Cookies 'n' Cream". Have also just discovered how many calories there are in a Hershey bar, but will keep this info to myself. :-)

You'd better keep that info to yourself David ! I've just had another one, and no one likes a party pooper....lol

Haha! In the Tim Burton movie version of "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory", Johnny Depp does use a whistle to summons an Oompa- loompa, lol!

Well done, you may now forget any calories incuured as a result of eating your Hershey bars - as do I ! :-)

That's the only way to eat a hersheys almond candybar, guilt free...., aahhh pure bliss...**
