This variegated ponytail palm is becoming widely available in nurseries here. Photo taken at Quail Botanical Gardens on July 7, 2009.

Have it Andy. SLow grower,sensitive to frost but not ultra tender thank god. It also is most likely Beaucarnea guatemalensis explaining the slower tender growth. They never develop the huge swollen base..enlarged, but still not like B.recurvata.
