Thanks - now I have to wait and see if I killed the white Asters by moving them at totally the wrong time of year!

Geoff Hamilton often moved things like that - said so long as you watered well before and after they should be fine. I'm sure with your care and attention they'll be ok.

I did do that, at least. And it's been raining quite hard this afternoon. Maybe they'll survive then! :-)

Actually, the rootball wasn't all that big for a three-year old tall clump!
