Did you know that there's a yellow-leaved version of Leycesteria? :-)
18 Jul, 2009
Another beauty Dawn, lots of great colour, love it.

Thanks TT, Arlene, San & DocBob - I'm about a month behind everyone else, but heyho!
No Spritz, didnt know there was a yellow leaved version - sounds nice, I'll have to google it.

I had one dawn but I cut it down and water filled the hollow stems , it didn,t do very well after that :o(

What a shame Amy.

Ours not in flower Dawn but there again it is only a year old and was a cutting taken from the trimmings in a customers garden !
18 Jul, 2009
Your job certainly has bonuses Ray :-)
It should flower next year shouldnt it and then the blackbirds will go mad for the berries and before you know it, the garden will be full of them :-)
18 Jul, 2009
What MORE blackbirds Dawn ! Lol...they already lining themselves up for the windfalls from the apple trees in a few months ! Lol
18 Jul, 2009
Ha ha Ray - I meant the garden will be full of pheasant berries after the blackbirds have digested the berries.
So the blackbirds like the windfalls like the thrushes - more reason to leave them for the birds.
18 Jul, 2009
Aye Dawn, usually come down early morning and the lawn is just a mass of blackbirds tucking in !
18 Jul, 2009
At the rate they've been breeding this year in your garden, they'll be jostling for space on the lawn.
18 Jul, 2009
The mind boggles Dawn...will have to get some photos....a carpet of blackbirds ! Lol
18 Jul, 2009
I'll look out for the picture in the autumn then, I'm sure its going to happen.
How are the rooks? Do they stay away in summer?
18 Jul, 2009
Quiet at moment Dawn.Just return to the rookery at night and away at first light again to the fields for the wheat etc ! Its no wonder really that the farmers dont like them when they pinch so much grain ! Lol
18 Jul, 2009
Oh, that's where they go then. I'm surprised they can take off with all that grain inside them.
18 Jul, 2009
Thats nice Dawn.....pretty blooms..

Thanks Maureen :-)

one of my favorite shrubs. great flowers and then the seed heads....;-))
22 Jul, 2009
I like the way the blackbirds love the berries so much.
22 Jul, 2009
Love this plant too Dawn, it seems to bloom forever for me, first the old wood blooms then when it's finished the new growth starts to bloom ! Theyellow one is listed as 'golden lanterns'. It's goregous but doesn't get nearly as large, at least not for me anyway.

I havent seen the yellow one FLC. The blackbirds are enjoying eating the berries at the moment.

11 Oct, 2009
I've been watching the blackbirds feasting on the berries today :-)
They keep hopping up, great to watch and of course they then deposit the seeds all over the garden and this plant pops up everywhere.
11 Oct, 2009
mine havnt got any seeds on yet...........
12 Oct, 2009
Shouldnt be long before you do Holly. You can see the berries on this picture - all nice and shiny, just how the birds like them :-)
