There was a gap in my 'hot' border, which called out for a gold/orange Helenium - so here it is!

What a pain! My other two have been in for four years, but I bought a new one ('El Dorado') two years ago and it's not doing well at all. Fingers crossed for our new plants! Which one have you got?

erm, not sure. Will have to check label. I got it cheap bcos it's past it's best. Looks like (?) Moorheim or whatever from colour. Very tall. I think I'd prefer a shorter one maybe, but I seized my chance today.
I'm sure I crowd my plants in too tightly sometimes - you can have too much of a good thing!
Or do you think the harder winter might have killed it?

They should be hardy, even in that cold, so I don't think it was that. Usually, it's wet that rots them. I think that's why my little one is not doing well - too wet last year for it to establish itself.

What else?
See who else is growing Helenium autumnale (American Sneezeweed).
See who else has plants in genus Helenium.

this is lovely, I'm quite jealous as these never seem to last long in our garden. Last year's bought plant has disappeared, so I'm trying again...
