Simply gorgeous Sanbaz, love the way you have the flowers spilling over the edges of your borders. It really softens up the borders, and makes the beds look so lush.

thankyou so much flcrazy, yes your right about flowers spilling over the edge, a continuous flow looks so pretty i think :o)

I love the log roll, plan on doing some myself next year. Lovely border, very nice planting.

hi tink its not the roll my hubby did these one at a time so they went deep, they are fencing poles, half poles which he cut to 2ft and burried a ft so it was strong, then lined with black bin liners then some strong blue liner before topsoil went in,the rolls wouldnt be strong enough for a deep border, would end up callapsing, hope this helps for if you do it :o))

Wow that must have taken a while and it looks so neat. Well done hubby. That does help because I was wondering whether to line the borders. As you might have read in my Little Fence blog our little fence did collapse and I thought the log roll would be a good replacement. I'm glad you said this because I want to do a lot of it and it would have been an expensive mistake. Fencing poles here I come! :-) Thanks hon.

yw tink, it did take time but was worth it, just keep looking back so it bends into the right shape, baz had to take some back out as he went wrong at one point lol, liner helps to stop soil escaping and also protect the wood, good luck tink :o))
also baz said he nailed a wire at the back to keep together, right along if you know what i mean

Got the idea, plans forming in my head now. The only thing that concerns me about the liner is drainage.

1 Dec, 2009

only put the liner against the posts not on the bottom, just to stop soil comming through gaps and rotting wood, think baz stappled it in parts just to stop it falling till soil in,:o)
