giant sunflower

planted some sunflower seeds in different parts of the garden to see where they grew best some are now 1 ft high and others are 4 ft high and these plants are not the Russian giants so that was good growing
but one seems to like the soil very well and i tested the soil to find out the alkalinity was of scale at 10 with 7 neutral and 6 acid.
so this plant which normally grew in desert areas and likes alkaline soil grew to
9 ft 1 inch = 3 meters 10 mm
so here it is my baby flower

You trying to get one-upmanship on me - for my avatar photo? ;-)) LOL!
Wait till it's summer here again & I grow a 12ft one! ;-)) Then we'll see who has the last laugh!!! :-D)
BTW, it's 3m 10cm - not mm! Someone needs to go back to school & learn his metric measurements again! LOL!

winter is around the corner and just took to the sunflower with a saw the trunk was 2 inches thick and the height was 9 ft 6 inches and the flower was 4 .5 kg weight
even after the birds had pinched the seeds.

I see you cut it down then! You did very well to get it to grow so high! :-))
In a couple of months time they will be growing again on Gerry's allotments. They are as bad as weeds - they spring up all over the place!
Talking of spring - it's supposed to be Spring here but it looks even more like deep winter! We are forecast snow over the coming days! The strong, cold wind from the continent is forecast to continue most of next week at least. :-((

its got a long way to travel to you Piersdad! Four inches of snow ~ its supposed to be spring!!!

It snowed all day here on Saturday (23rd March) almost non-stop. But we have only ended up with a few cm of snow. It's the terribly cold East wind that's the problem here.
