Something very weird happened today! Friends of ours are expecting a baby in Nov., but at about lunchtime we got an email saying the baby had been born!!! Apparently, mother and son are both doing well – thank Goodness :- )
Will plant Aster and Carnation seeds soon, as soon as I’ve gotten over this cold I have right now :- ( Can’t wait, it will be my first season as a trainee horticulturalist! All the spring flowers are coming out in Aus. now, My jasmine is in bloom, and there are some lovely Freesias around!!! They’re gorgeous things, even though the COUNCIL (Scary music plays now) exterminate them with a will… they are weeds, after all, I suppose.
Lavender is also everywhere! Mum has dreadful hayfever. I don’t get hayfever too much, thankfully!

Congratulations to you and your friends. Hope the little one is home with mum soon.
O how I wish it was spring again here! I love spring and also summer (if we get a few nice weeks). Winter will be on us soon, I could just do without it personally. I guess we have it for a reason though.

Hi Pip,
Wow I cant imagine freesias as weeds, they are my Mums favourite flowers ( as a special treat we sometimes order her some from the specialist nurseries in the Channel Islands). I hope your friends ' little one' will be ok, I can testify to the wonders of modern nursing, and the strength of tiny babies - my girls were due January and actually arrived 4th November, tiny but otherwise quite well.
it sounds as though your springtime is blooming!!

How lovely to have beautiful freesias growing as weeds, we don't have any weeds nearly as pretty as that!
Glad to hear the baby has arrived safe and well, even though very early.

Goodness...you don't do things by half in Sydney do you pip?...babies 3 months early & freesias considered weeds!! We pay far too much for a single stem over here...how lovely to have them growing everywhere. You are lucky!
Hope mum & babe doing well.

Freesias are very pretty, I love them too, and they are everywhere over here. People hate them because they spring up in garden beds after years of being dormant, and wouldn't you know, I'd love some in our yard but it's never happened to us!!

It's nice for you to have the spring.
I've never heard of freesias being called weeds before lol. Do they grow wild where you live ?
The baby is very early isn't he. I'm glad all is well there :o)
Sorry about your mother's hay fever. My sister-in-law gets it and it is very unpleasant.
