Yes, once it gets going. Quite invasive if planted where it likes it too much. Mine is in poor dry soil in full sun and an exposed position so has only spread a little and grown about 20ft.

I have a friend here in N.A. who has an akebia which seems to grow very well ...I'm thinking I might try one. I've been working on my soil (what soil?) since we moved here ten years ago..so finding a patch of poor soil won't be a challenge!!
