Allium Bulgaricum

Allium Bulgaricum (Allium bulgaricum (Bulgarian Onion))

Interestin Allium. I planted other bulbs called Nectorascordum last year and they look the same to me.

Nice one.

Beautiful combination of colours and a very graceful umbel. They are very similar and very hard to tell apart in a photo, anyway, whatever about in the 'flesh'.

Hi Chris, I think they are one and the same - Nectorascordum/ Nectorascordon siculum bulgaricum. I seem to remember hearing somewhere that this was at one time termed an allium. It's a really lovely plant! :-)

PS. Have just seen these bulbs advertised here on GOY by Thomspon & Morgan - "Mediterranean Bells " Allium siculum (Nectorascordum). :-)

We also grow this or something very similar. It seems to come back every year despite being very neglected. Excellent photo here.
