Butterfly bush..a closer look (Buddleja globosa (Orange ball tree))

The wee butterflies were not as clear as I had hoped on the last pic, so here is a close up!

Hijuju, the butterflies in the pic are principally Red Admiral. We did have some peacock butterflies. I'll find a pic and post it for you. Sixpence, I think you're right Buddleia Globosa. Does really well from cuttings. This one was dug out of a chums garden to make way for their conservatory ;o)

I have a globosa in my garden which this year has decided to flower as a normal buddleia shape and not the globosa ball. I notice that yours has some flowers like this too - can you tell me if yours always flowers like this now or does it revert to the ball shape ?Thanks a lot.
PS. I love mine because it brings some colour into the garden right into November !

Mariek, now there's a good question. Possibly we should turn from B. Globosa and look instead at 'Buddleia x weyeriana 'Honeycomb' '. Other specimens of B. Globosa in the garden have much more distinct spheres of yellowness, whereas the B. weyeriana pictured has the more recognisable Buddleia raceme. I had always just assumed that this one was Globosa. Another nursery labelling cock-up. But you're quite right, Globosa or no, it is a beautiful shrub for the garden.
