Plantoholic it must be at least 7 years old now......Cinders, what a shame, is it in a ery exposed position? thanks Sixpence.

No, its very sheltered. But maybe that was the problem, a frost pocket perhaps. Last year was the first year in that position and as it flowered so well I thought it liked it there. Oh well, look forward to next year now, will have to give it more protection.

This is a beautiful camellia and must look so pretty to look upon after a long winter. I have a camellia that is very young and I fear it has suffered over the winter....there are only a few leaves and buds on it but it may recover as it's not to bloom until autumn. I must be patient :)

Whiston it is hard to be patient at my age lol
Thanks HB Holly and Annella, the ground at the top of the garden is ideal for Camellias, Pieris and Acers, it also gets lots of ericaceous compost every year, and I feed it with tea leaves all summer!!
Val it might be too dry for it?

It's gorgeous , i'm afraid mine has that sooty mould on it as well ,actually it could be dry where it is because there are some trees there taking up the moisture ...
